Understanding Black Culture in Tech w/ Door Prize

October 4, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

To know where you are going, you have to know where you come from.

Many say Black Americans have no longstanding culture like Irish Americans, Italian-Americans, and those who can trace their ancestry back through the Pilgrims and into England, France and Spain.

What culture do you have when you come from doctors, lawyers, farmers and chieftains who were enslaved into bondage 400 years ago, beginning in 1619? Who really are the Black people who lead in America, run businesses and fuel the economy through employment at the millions of businesses and corporations we all know and love?

These were questions facing Jamaican Black immigrant, Elizabeth Leiba when she started making her way as a Black woman in America. So, she did her homework and first studied, who are Black people America.

Today, she’s an educator, a Director of Instructional Design and Innovation, an entrepreneur, and Founder of the Black History and Culture Academy. Follow Elizabeth, she’s got over 94,000 LinkedIn followers and has the distinction of being a LinkedIn Top Voices in 2020.
